The Life, Legacy and Work of Malcolm X

On February 15, 2012 the African American Studies Dept at UMD put together a dynamic and informative panel on the Life, Legacy, and Work of the late great Malcolm X. This panel was put together by Dr. Joseph Richardson and featured: Mr. Obi Egbuna, Dr. Jared Ball, and Dr. Derrick White.

The discussion focused in part on the recent book by Dr. Manning Marable, Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention. I was present at the event and raised the question of Malcolm’s assassination during the Q&A (Part 1, 1:11) The responses were enlightening. His murder is still an unresolved homicide with living suspects and witnesses and buried government files.

February 21 marks the 47th anniversary of his assassination. COPA has organized several panels in New York City on the topic over the past years, and some of them are at our YouTube website.
