Zac Efron to star in JFK-assassination drama ‘Parkland’

Apparently the victim, the innocent and the guilty all end up at Parkland Hospital. Jack Ruby was there the day of the assassination and then died there. Based on the flawed work of Vincent Bugliosi, this film will support the official version of events. It will be interesting to see how they treat depictions or descriptions of the wounds.

Peter Landesman is also adapting “Kill the Messenger” a book about journalist Gary Webb who broke the CIA link to crack cocaine in Los Angeles in the San Jose Mercury. Not surprisingly, it will also support the idea that Webb killed himself despite forensic evidence to the contrary.

Hollywood and the press are gearing up to make the 50th anniversary the most disinformation-packed response to the assassination of JFK yet.

Zac Efron and Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden are the latest additions to the JFK-assassination drama “Parkland,” titled after the Dallas hospital where president Kennedy, his (alleged) assassin Lee Harvey Oswald, and his assassin Jack Ruby all died. Efron and Harden join a cast that includes Paul Giamatti, Billy Bob Thornton, and Jacki Weaver (of “Animal Kingdom” and “Silver Linings Playbook”).

The film is being adapted from Vincent Bugliosi’s book “Reclaiming History: The Assassination of John F. Kennedy” by journalist and novelist Peter Landesman, who is also directing, marking his debut. The larger story of the Kennedy assassination is being told here through the lens of how it was seen at the Parkland hospital, the primary setting.

Word on character and specific plot details has yet to be revealed. “Parkland” will be filmed in Austin, Texas, with a projected release date around the the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy assassination in November 2013.
